180°
Life System™ Carb-Blocker ingredient ‘Phase 2’ featured in First for
women magazine
Phase 2’
the primary ingredient in Lexxus International’s 180° Life System™
Carb-Blocker was the subject of the feature article in the June
21st, 2004, issue of First for women magazine.
The article
begins by defining a challenge that faces women AND MEN, everywhere
- “There’s a subclinical syndrome that afflicts at least half of
women over age 30: as we get older we crave more carbs – as as we
eat more carbs, our bodies deposit those extra calories in our
bellies.”
According to Pamela Peeke, M.D., author of the book
Fight Fat After Forty (Penguin, 2001), hormonal changes, a result of
the natural process of aging, DO effect a woman’s digestive system,
resulting in our body burning less carbohydrate calories and storing
them as fat…usually in the belly, which in turn increases carb
cravings. It’s a ‘vicious cycle” according to Dr. Peeke.
The
good news is that you can break this cycle! Dr. Peeke says that if
you lose your belly fat, then your carbohydrate cravings will
diminish.
What’s the answer? The article goes on to refer to
the discovery and further Mayo Clinic research on phaseolamin (Phase
2), the key ingredient in the 180° Life System™ Carb-Blocker
formulated by Dr. Steven Rosenblatt, M.D., Ph.D., nutrition
scientist and co-author of The Starch Blocker Diet (Harper Collins,
2003). In the book, Dr. Rosenblatt says that studies indicate that
Phase 2, an all natural extract of the white kidney bean, binds to
alpha-amylase, the enzyme that supports the body in the breakdown
and absorption of starch. “When the extract is taken with food,
amylase temporarily isn’t able to do its job and up to 75 percent of
all starches pass through the digestive tract in whole-molecule form
and are instantly eliminated from the body.”
The second part
of the article is a great support to start breaking the cycle and
includes a three-day menu plan, taken from The Starch Blocker Diet.
The starch blocker diet redistributes calories into 55%
carbohydrates, 30% protein, and 15% fat. Studies show that this
distribution of calories, combined with plenty of water and taking
two capsules with 500mg of Phase 2 (for a total of 1000mg) before
each meal, will optimize weight management efforts. Keep in mind
that, while the Phase 2 has shown to neutralize starch calories
(referred to as carbohydrate calories), sugar is also a carbohydrate
calorie and Phase 2 does NOT prevent the body’s absorption of
sugar.

education!
Lexxus International has worked closely with Dr.
Rosenblatt to formulate the 180° Life System™ Carb-Blocker. While
not all results are the same for all people, Dr. Rosenblatt focused
on developing a product that would support the weight management
efforts of most people. Many people have found great help in Dr.
Rosenblatt’s book The Starch Blocker Diet, also available from

Natural
Health Trends Corp. Obtains China Business License and Announces
Completion of First ``Lexxus Experience Store'' in
Beijing Friday June
25, 6:00 am ET
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 25,
2004--Natural Health Trends Corp. (OTCBB: NHLC - News) announced
today that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Lexxus International (China)
Corporation, a company organized under the laws of the People's
Republic of China ("PRC") has recently obtained a license to open
wholesale-retail establishments within the PRC. The wholesale-retail
stores will be called "Lexxus Experience Stores" and will be used to
demonstrate and promote the Company's line of premium quality
personal care products under the Lexxus brand name.
Since
1998, China has prohibited direct selling, except for certain
previously licensed enterprises that agreed to convert their network
marketing organization into a "retail store" model. Currently, in
order for China to comply with its obligations to the World Trade
Organization, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce is drafting a Direct
Sales Law that we expect, when enacted, will permit direct selling,
subject to compliance with various requirements. We anticipate that
the Direct Sales Law will be implemented later this year or early in
2005 and that this new law will also require a "retail store" model.
Mark Woodburn, President of Natural Health Trends Corp.
said, "We view the potential direct selling market in China to be a
unique opportunity. It may well become the largest direct selling
market in the world. We have successfully recruited more than 33,000
active distributors in the Hong Kong market and we feel it is
crucial for us to be one of the first entrants into the Chinese
marketplace. I believe that our recently issued retail license will
provide us with a critical first step towards obtaining a direct
selling license. Our recently acquired retail license has a duration
of 30 years and requires a capital investment of $12 million, of
which $8 million must be funded in cash over a three-year schedule.
We are committed to China and will devote all necessary resources to
expand and, if required, modify our existing operations. I am very
excited about this very positive development in China and we are
more optimistic than ever about our future business prospects in
China."
Terry LaCore, CEO of Lexxus International Inc., a
wholly-owned subsidiary of NHTC, said "Our retail license will allow
us to open wholesale-retail establishments within the People's
Republic of China to be called "Lexxus Experience Stores". We expect
to open numerous stores in major metropolitan areas. These
Experience Stores will be used to demonstrate and promote to our
customers and sales personnel the Company's line of premium quality
personal care products under the Lexxus brand name. These "brick and
mortar" establishments should enable us to enhance our product sales
and recruit additional sales personnel. We eagerly await the passage
of the new Direct Sales Law so that we can apply for approval,
obtain a direct selling license and begin operating in China."
Natural Health Trends Corp. is an international
direct-selling company operating in more than 30 markets throughout
Asia, North America and Eastern Europe. The Company markets premium
quality personal care products under the Lexxus brand and markets
its nutritional supplement products under the Kaire brand.

interested parties to register for corporate updates via e-mail on
